01-393DL Advocating for Tobacco Legislation

No Reviews - Be the first

Length: 1 hour

One of the most active areas of tobacco legislation involves initiatives to increase the legal age for tobacco purchase from 18 to 21. These initiatives are designed to decrease adolescent’s access to tobacco through their older peers as well as delay the onset of smoking and decrease the likelihood that these adolescents will develop a lifelong tobacco habit. While there is federal legislation to increase the age for tobacco purchase to 21, the advocacy wins and subsequent policy changes are all taking place on the state and local level. The intent of this webinar is to provide an overview of the advocacy taking place on both the state and local levels so that public health advocates can replicate these successes.
